We would like to place on record our appreciation for all the work you
and your teams have recently put in leading up to the angling debate
and the No to Salmon nets campaign culminating in an excellent debate
in the house yesterday and its was very heartening to see a topic get
such good cross party support and we look forward to hearing more from
the Minister on what action plan she intends to put in place. You can
count on FASTA continuing to support such initiatives and we and our
associates will continue to lobby on a rational and responsible basis.
I can also assure you that FASTA will continue to champion the issues
affecting angling on the Foyle and will be pressing on to secure
meetings with the Agric Committee, the Dard and Dcal Ministers . In
addition we have been offered the opportunity to meet the Minister in
the Irish Republic with responsibility for LA and this will help us
ensure all those with obligations to management of the LA are fully
informed so that we can also press for a strategic management plan
covering that region as well.
