Ulster Unionist MLA for North Antrim Robin Swann has welcomed news of good angling on local rivers

“Many local anglers have told me that there have been good runs of dollaghan and some salmon on most local rivers helped by the amount of rainfall we have had over the summer and I’m delighted that most anglers are acting in the best interests of angling in general and returning fish to the river when caught. There has undoubtedly been good work by the Fishery Protection Officers but much more needs to be done. There are still many reports of net marked dollaghan indicating that netting on Lough Neagh remains an issue to be addressed and there are still those irresponsible anglers who will take and kill every fish they can. Swann urges ‘Save Our Salmon” campaign

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman, has called on the Northern Ireland community to rally behind his campaign to ‘Save Our Salmon’. Assemblyman Swann, a member of both the Stormont committees on agriculture and culture, is also Chairman of the North Antrim UUP Association and a Past President of the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster. The North Antrim Ulster Unionist MLA and Culture spokesman has urged all those with an interest in the conservation of salmon to respond to the Department of Culture Arts and Leisure consultation which closes on the 10 July 2012. Swann campaigns for North Antrim anglers

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman and member of the Stormont Culture, Arts and Leisure Committee, has called on the Executive Ministers to work together to boost the constituency’s angling tourism Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Ulster Unionist Culture, Arts and Leisure Spokesman, issued the challenge after expressing his concern following the release of figures indicating a reduction in the number of overseas visitors coming to Northern Ireland to avail of angling opportunities. Step up war on fish poachers, Swann urges DARD

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assembly and Stormont Agriculture Committee member, has sent a blunt message to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) to “step up the war on poachers who are wrecking havoc among the angling community”, Mr Swann said this “no punches pulled strategy with poachers should be implemented sooner rather than later to combat the poaching menace”. Assemblyman Swann is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and a Past President of the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster and Past Chairman of the influential Rural Youth Europe organisation. Swann secures ‘Catch and Release’ angling pledge

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman and member of the Stormont Agriculture and Culture Committees, has secured a firm commitment from the Sinn Fein Culture Minister to ensure tougher ‘catch and release’ angling laws in Departmental waters. Assemblyman Swann is North Antrim UUP Association Chairman and a Past President of the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster as well as Past Chairman of the influential Rural Youth Europe organisation. Mr Swann challenged the minister on the issue during oral questions in the Assembly Chamber.
