Boris Boost for Wrightbus “brilliant”, says Swann
North Antrim UUP MLA Robin Swann, left, chats to London Mayor Boris Johnston, centre, and Stormont Transport Minister Danny Kennedy about the global success of Ballymena-based company, Wrightbus, during the trip to the factory. Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman and Chairperson of the Stormont Employment and Learning Committee, has praised the visit of London Mayor Boris Johnston to the new Wrightbus plant as “emphasising the brilliant boost for Wrightbus’s position as one of our leading local economic ambassadors”. Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Party Chief Whip, was very enthusiastic that Mr Johnston’s visit would signal even more orders for Wrightbus. Swann appointed to top Stormont Chairmanship
ROBIN SWANN, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assembly member, has been appointed as Chairman of one of the most influential of the Stormont committees, the Department of Employment and Learning. Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Party Chief Whip, was appointed DEL Chairman by Party leader Mike Nesbitt MLA. Swann urges action to stop degree fees hike
Mr Robin Swann, the Ulster Unionist Party Assembly member for North Antrim and UUP Chief Whip, has expressed his opposition to any rise in university fees using the excuse that it is to protect the quality of degrees in the Province. Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman, said he wanted the Alliance Stormont Employment and Learning Minister to give “a categorical assurance that there will be no massive jump in university fees”. Swann calls for more essential skills support
Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman and member of the Stormont Culture and Agriculture Committees, has called on the Alliance Minister for Employment and Learning “to get his act together and provide more support for essential skills”. Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Party Chief Whip, issued his challenge after receiving a reply to a written question to the minister. Mr Swann said: “I asked the Minister for Employment and Learning how he is working to improve the number of Essential Skills enrolments in Information, Communication and Technology subjects. “In his response to me he said that since its launch in 2002, the overall Essential Skills Strategy has been extremely successful, with nearly 340,000 enrolments and almost 169,000 qualifications achieved in literacy, numeracy and ICT. “ICT, was piloted from 2007/08, and introduced as a third essential skill in August 2009.
