Swann praises ‘genius of Wrightbus’

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman and member of the Stormont Committees for Agriculture and Culture, has praised “the genius of Wright Bus” after the Ballymena-based company unveiled the news that a multi-million pound order for new London buses is heading for Wrightbus. Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Party Chief Whip, said: “Eight prototype buses were trailed in London are a fantastic advertisement for Wrightbus and local industry in Northern Ireland. “Now Wrightbus has been successful in receiving the main order for the 600 buses needed by Transport for London, and that is a massive boost for our local economy. “At a time of economic uncertainty, such a massive order would secure a lot of jobs and the high profile nature of the London buses would be sure to generate more interest in what we have to offer in Northern Ireland,” … Continue reading

Swann welcomes Wrightbus Singapore export order

Ulster Unionist North Antrim MLA Robin Swann has welcomed the news that Ballymena based Wrightbus has secured a three year contract to supply 550 double deck bus kits to SBS Transit of Singapore. Mr Swann said: “Once again Wrightbus are leading the way for Northern Ireland’s export industry with this new contract to supply 550 double deck bus kits to Singapore. This is great news for Ballymena, North Antrim and indeed Northern Ireland plc, and comes less than a month after the Mayor of London Boris Johnson described the Wrightbus prototype of a new bus for London as a piece of “world class technology”. Wrightbus are a prime example of how Northern Ireland indigenous manufacturing industry can compete on the world stage and win export contracts. I would like to congratulate the management and workforce at the Galgorm plant and to wish them every success in the future.”

Spend Olympic cash in North Antrim, urges Swann

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman, and member of the Agriculture and Culture Committees, has urged the Stormont Executive to ensure that “a substantial part of any Olympic cash underspend is diverted into sporting facilities in the constituency”. Assemblyman Swann is also North Antrim UUP Chairman, Party Chief Whip and Party Sports Spokesman. Mr Swann issued his call for North Antrim to receive its fair share of funding from the likely underspend on the Olympic Games in London this summer following comments made by Hugh Roberts MP, the Westminster Minister for Sport and the Olympics. Swann praises Ballymena role in Creative Peace Murals

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman and member of the Stormont Culture, Arts and Leisure Committee, has praised the role of Ballymena pupils in an innovative peace murals project which has been unveiled at Parliament Buildings Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Party Chief Whip, was speaking in his capacity as Party Culture Spokesman after attending an exhibition of five Creative Peace Murals in Stormont’s Great Hall. The “terrific and original exhibition” in Parliament Buildings will be on display until 7 June 2012. Mr Swann added: “This project originated in Ballymena and I warmly welcome this great project to Stormont.
