Swann welcomes roads boost for Moyle

Mr Robin Swann, the Ulster Unionist Party Assembly member for North Antrim and Chairperson of the Stormont Employment and Learning Committee, has “warmly welcomed” the £2.5 million boost for roads in the Moyle region. Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim Chairman and Party Chief Whip, said the roads boost “would be a tremendous benefit to attract tourism to the locality”. Mr Swann’s party colleague, Transport Minister Danny Kennedy, also commended Roads Service and its contractors for the successful completion of road schemes in 2012/2013 which accounted for £2.5million investment in the roads infrastructure in the Moyle area. Swann seeks cash solution to A26 road crisis

Mr Robin Swann, the Ulster Unionist Party Assembly member for North Antrim and Chairman of the Stormont Employment and Learning Committee, has called on the Department of Regional Development to ensure there is sufficient funding to eradicate the dangers posed by the Frocess Road ‘black spot’. Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Party Chief Whip, was reacting after receiving a letter from Regional Development Minister and UUP colleague Danny Kennedy MLA regarding making the A26 between Glarryford and the A44 Drones Road a priority project. Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Party Chief Whip, said he was “exceptionally pleased” with the investment for Ballymena from his party colleague and Executive Minister Danny Kennedy. Mr Swann said: “I warmly welcome the Department of Regional Development spending on Ballymena roads despite budget cuts. “This investment was unveiled when I asked the Minister for Regional Development to detail how the spend on road maintenance in the Ballymena Borough Council area changed from the 2006/07 to the 2011/12 financial years. “My UUP colleague, Minister Kennedy, replied that in the 2006/07 financial year, £2,471,000 was spent on structural maintenance. Swann urges roads caution as schools return

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman and member of the Stormont Culture and Agriculture Committees, has appealed to motorists to show due care as the new school year begins after the summer holidays. Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Party Chief Whip, said: “I appeal to all drivers to apply extra care and attention now that the new school year is commencing. “Extra vigilance and caution is needed to avoid endangering the lives of young school pupils, especially during school run times, both in the mornings and evenings. “It is important for everyone to adhere to the speed limit restrictions and warning signs in the vicinity of schools. “I also appeal to parents of children walking to school to remind them of the dangers of traffic and crossing the road.
