Swann urges action to combat ‘Ash Dieback’

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman and member of the Stormont Culture and Agriculture Committees, has called on the Sinn Fein Farming Minister “to declare open war on the spread of Ash Dieback which present a very real threat to our wonderful tree population”. Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Party Chief Whip, is a Past President of the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster and a Past Chairman of the influential Rural Youth Europe organisation. Mr Swann has challenged the DARD Minister to “immediately remove” ash as a listed species, which is used in Field Boundary Restoration work in the Countryside Management Scheme. Put food security on CAP agenda, urges Swann

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman and member of the Stormont Agriculture and Culture Committees, has called on the Farming Minister to ensure that food security is “firmly placed on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) agenda. Assemblyman Swann is North Antrim UUP Association Chairman and a Past President of the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster as well as Past Chairman of the influential Rural Youth Europe organisation. Mr Swann’s challenge to the Minister came after he questioned her at Stormont on the issue of food security.
