Swann praises 'terrific' boost for Ballymena business
Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assembly and UUP Leader, has praised the “superb and outstanding news” that the Ballymena Business Centre has been chosen as one of the two winners in Round One of the Ulster Bank Skills and Opportunities Fund competition for 2017.
The two recipients – Work West in west Belfast was the other - were chosen in a public vote. The £15,500 grant it will receive will go towards its Midtown Creative project to enable people in rural and deprived communities to start a business in its Midtown Makers Studio and Shop.
Assemblyman Swann said: “Like many in our community, I congratulate Ballymena Business Centre on its success. Given the bad news the community has been given in recent years with the vast number of jobs lost, this is some heartfelt news on the business front.
“This is proof we are rebuilding once more and the North Antrim economy in general, and Ballymena in particular, will one day be booming again. The success of the Ballymena Business Centre is a firm foundation for this economic revival,” said Assemblyman Swann.
