Swann invites new Royal 'Couple' to North Antrim
Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assembly member and UUP Leader, has sent his “warmest congratulations” to Prince Harry and his girlfriend Meghan Markle on the “wonderful news of their engagement”.
Assemblyman Swann said: “As Leader of the Ulster Unionist Party and North Antrim Assembly member, I would invite the new Royal Couple to visit our world-renowned constituency at the earliest opportunity.
“In spite of all the gloom and stalemate on the political front here in Northern Ireland, we can look forward in 2018 to both a Royal Birth from Prince William and his wife as well as another Royal Wedding in the spring between Prince Harry and his fiancée.
“We all know the tremendous boost which news of a Royal baby and wedding brings to the people of Northern Ireland and we have already had the added joy this year of the wedding celebrations for our Queen and Prince Philip.
“North Antrim has a long and glorious history of Royal visits to the constituency and we all sincerely hope Prince Harry and his future wife, Meghan, will keep up this terrific tradition by making this region a regular port of Royal call,” said Assemblyman Swann.
