Robin Swann MLA statement on Wrightbus job losses

Reacting to the news of potential job losses at Ballymena-based Wrightbus, Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Assembly member and UUP Leader, said: “I am deeply saddened at the news that Wrightbus may have to lay off around 90 jobs as a result of market conditions. While Wrightbus has built up a global reputation for excellence and this was recognised only weeks ago when the firm’s founder, William Wright, was awarded a knighthood, this terrible jobs blow shows on one hand that no company is immune from economic market pressures. On the other hand, this jobs blow to our constituency is further proof - if any more was needed - that the people of Northern Ireland, and especially in North Antrim, urgently need a working and fully functioning Stormont Executive to tackle the looming employment crisis."
